Local riders gain the podium in 1st Peel race

Peel round 1
The O'Connor Boys travelled to Perth on the weekend for the 1st Peel Club Round at the Goat Farm.
In 34 degree heat and in windless, dusty conditions the boys found it hard going with all the protective gear on

Declan came in well clear of the pack at 2min 15 and 4 seconds clear of second place. In fact he also beat all the U19, sport male, masters male, expert male, veterans and 12 of the 18 elite male riders. Not bad for someone with a sore throat and feeling off.

Jack was on song too and came in 3rd at 2min 28 which gave him the podium to share with Dec for the 1st time. For a 14 year old in U17 class that's a great result. His confidence is growing with each race.

Kieran once again got up close & personal with the dirt but thankfully his padding saved the day. Sadly it couldn't save the chain from jamming so the 2 min spent freeing it put him out of the race and coming in at last place at 4min 21

Quote Rory(father)"Both Declan and Jack were on fire.
Very happy with Jacks time though…nice to have 2 O'Connor's on the U17 podium! "
Next race at Welli Mills on 24th April.
